Trailwork Sat Sep 15th at Rocky Ridge 9:30AM

Postby diggingtrail » Sun Sep 09, 2012 6:39 pm

How about some actual notice this time around! Trailwork this Saturday at Rocky Ridge. The planned project, pending approval from the parks which is likely, is to work on the trail that parallels Deininger Rd. from the parking lot to trail 7 by the water tower. The section of trail here that is on private property, and needs to be rerouted. There are also some braids already forming and duff still on the tread due to the current unsanctioned nature of the trail (soon to become sanctioned hopefully), and there is no real trailhead at the parking lot and one needs to be constructed.

What: Trailwork, Partial reroute and proper construction of previously unsanctioned trail along Deininger Rd.
Where: Rocky Ridge
When: Saturday Sept 15th at 930A
Meet: In the front paved lot

Well we certainly aren't going to dig the rock out. :)
Can't make any promises how the actual trailhead will be placed. Problem now is that people are accessing the trail from about 3-4 slightly diff locations.

Every thing has been approved for this trail. With the parks putting in the two picnic table at the parking lot no trailhead needs to be constructed, the parks will put a carsonite at one of the entrances to the picnic tables. There is a lot of trail to be rerouted though towards trail 7. The upside is that there are some rocks that we can aim the trail towards, and some other fun possibilities. Hope to see a bunch of people out this weekend.

Have faith. The trail will still be awesome. I hope it will be even more awesome. Come on Saturday and you can help keep the awesome. :-)

We will be keeping all of the logs and the rock garden behind the water tower. Right after the rock garden (heading towards 7 from the parking lot) we will turn right down the hill and then weave across to 7.

Had some "technical difficulties" with the bike so I didn't get a run in with the camera mounted higher like I wanted to in addition to the low mount.

Ehhh, you don't want to know.

Actually it's "Dil Street Blues" by DJ Shadow. There's gotta be a Shadow fan or two on this site. The track is off one one of my least favorite albums of his, but the length and fit and it kinda felt right.
