Postby diggingtrail » Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:01 pm

The weather just is not cooperating this year at all. At this point in time Sunday's trailwork is still a go. Check back Saturday as we may have to cancel again due to the weather.

What: Maintenance day on the Goat Trail
Where: The Lakes
Meet: At the Lake Redman boat launch
Time: 1:30 pm
Bring: Water and work gloves

YAMBA supplies all of the tools, as well as assorted Clif Bars. Hope to see you Sunday if the weather holds out.

Looks like the snow is just about gone and the temps will cooperate! Trailwork tomorrow is ON! Meet at the Lake Redman Boat Launch at about 1:15pm. We will be leaving at 1:30 - carpooling over to the goat trail for some much needed maintenance. See you all there.

Thanks to everybody that came out yesterday to help fix up the Goat Trail. We worked on the Log Rd to Lake Rd section and we able to get a good bit of work done. Most of the effort was dedicated to erosion management. We knocked off the berms on the outer edge of the trail which allows water to sheet off instead of cupping the trail tread. There were also a few sections where the trail had actually moved downhill by nearly a foot, in these section we reclaimed the old bench cut, which will provide a more stable riding surface for bikers and horses, as well as limit erosion.

Thank you: Dick Mansberger, Jody Coeyman, Tony Marano, Scott Ramsay, Mike Major, Markus Houser, Charles Smith, Tim Brillhart, Kerry Young, and Dan Walko.
