Trailwork Sun Sept 20, 2009

There was another small but hardworking crew today. We tackled repairing the bridge on trail 4 at The Lakes today. It turned out to be a bigger project than we had inticipated as one of the bridge support beams was hanging in thin air. That is how much dirt was washed away by water. Our work crew moved hundreds of pounds of rock to armor the area upstream of the bridge, drove a support pylon under the bridge, built a retaining wall of tree sections and rock under the bridge, and finally backfilled the washed out area under the bridge. All in all it was a good day. Thanks to the following club members for coming out today to help: Dick Mansberger, Dan Walko, Dan Bowers, Larry Owens, Alyssa Mease, Jim Kraft, and Skip Durgin.
