Full Face Helmet

Postby finsout » Thu Oct 14, 2010 10:34 am

After a few semi-nasty falls at RR, I'm seriously thinking about a full face helmet. Obviously cooling and weight are some cons but what are the other pros/cons?

If they start to stink, you're trapped inside. I have a Giro Remedy, and wash the liner after every ride. The velcro is worn out now, so I have to hold the liner while putting the helmet on. It doesn't move after I get it on though. The cheek pads are removable, and I never use them.

You'll look like a poser if you aren't grippin & rippin every single second. Not that this really matters.

The Specialized Deviant looks like it vents better than the Remedy, but it is more expensive.

I'm looking at the remedy as well. can you get replacement liners?

I got one for about $20. The fuzz seems to wear off after about 10 washings, so it didn't help for long.

I considered a FF helmet before. I haven't fallen hard enough yet to really follow through though. But man on those HOT days I don't think I could wear one.
